A Resting Place

After the passing away of my son a few years ago and with the grief and the shock associated with his passing, I would hear Papa God, on many occasions, admonishing me to rest in Him.

Many times, I would ponder in my heart and then ask the question,   “God, what exactly does resting in you look like?” And the answer would always be, “Daughter, rest in Me.”

In my own way of doing things, I would lie at Papa’s feet quietly waiting to hear from Him, even though my mind would be racing with the myriad of things that needed to be done. Like, Martha, I was too busy worrying about housework, errands that needed to be done, family issues, and the like. (Luke 10:40-42)

Many times I would go into consecration and separation from others as often as I could in an attempt to rest in Him. Again, I would hear, “Daughter, rest in Me!”

Interestingly, enough, not long ago, I received an unction of Holy Spirit to go to this passage of scripture found in the book of Hebrews. (Hebrew 4:3)

3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: “So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ” although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Ah ha, so, if I believe You, Papa God, I can find a resting place in You? “. But Papa, I already believe on You as well as Your Son, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Yes, Daughter, I know that You believe in Me, but I also want You to always have faith in My Word regardless of what situations and circumstances you might face.

Daughter, when you asked me why I took your son…my son home? I replied to you that Jimmy had finished his course. I need you to believe that! I don’t need any shoudas, wouldas or couldas to be conjured up in your mind. Jimmy finished his course in this life, period! I need you to have faith and to rest in that fact as well as other situations that may arise in your life here on this earth.

Of course, you know my Word found in Hebrews, chapter 11 and verse that says,6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Yes, Papa God, I am well aware of that passage of scripture and I wish with all of my heart that you would be pleased with my faith in You. I read about Enoch and how that his faith pleased you so much that he never even saw death and was caught up to be with you in heaven. (Hebrews 11:5) (Genesis 5:24) End of dialogue with Yaweh.

As I studied Hebrews, chapter 4, I came upon verse 10 which reads “For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His”.

And the scripture that readily came to mind is found in Matthew 11:28 -3028 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.   29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.   30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

So from this I understand that there is a resting place in Papa God.

I can rest In Him, regardless of the circumstances that I find myself in. I can rest in Papa God as I seek to do His will in ministry, in my vocation, my job or business, during times of trials and temptations, and during periods of chaos and confusion.

Yes, I can rest in Jesus Christ of Nazareth and still worship. I can rest in Him and continue to occupy til He comes back. (Luke 19:13)

And I can rest assured in Hebrews chapter 4 and verse 9 that says “There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.”

Prayer, Father God in the name of Jesus, I thank You that there is resting place in You. Forgive me when I have strived and worried when my faith has been tested. Teach me to trust in You and to believe in You with all of my heart the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Amen!
